Odoo (PM/Enginner)

We used Python and XML to write an open-source ERP system Odoo for Tai- Ling Biotech., NC. at first, I was responsible for writing financial-related Code to solve different stages of biological production costs, and now I am responsible to be the project manager. I have to test the system and import data into the system and track everyone’s progress every week.

Using R for data sorting and data analysis, build models to predict data and make some marketing strategies for the project.

Used car big data analysis project (Coding)

Took the used car market data from German to do some data analysis which predict a model for customers to help them know the most reasonable price for the used car

Cooperates with office lease company to obtain the company's information for data analysis and provide marketing strategies.

Autobiography

         My name is Jeremy. I graduated from National Pingtung University with a bachelor’s degree of information management. Now I am studying in National Sun Yat-sen University for master degree of information management.

          In college, I was an IT intern at TAIFLEX Company during summer vacation. My main task was to help them testing their information system before going online and also observed their daily meeting. My supervisor also introduced what IT department mostly did in their company. Therefore, I learned that IT department in the company needs to help other departments to solve the problems while using information systems or correcting system errors.

          Now I’m the intern in ASML IT service, which mainly assist in dealing with every department information issue and communicating with users to help solving problems.

          I will use three advantages to explain why I am suitable for this position. The first one is project team experience. During the graduate school, I took three courses of data analysis, and completed three projects. All the projects were mainly based on using R for data sorting and data analysis. We also formed a team to participate the Taishin Bank Big Data Finance Competition and entered the finals. One of the projects, we took the data from Kaggle and needed to do some data analysis and built a model to predict the data. In the task distribution, I was responsible for coding and played the role of thinker. The difficult part was because it was the first time we had exposure to this domain, so we didn't know how to start it. However, after a team discussion, we set a clear goals, task assignment and took some suggestion from teachers. Finally, we successfully completed the project and won the third place in the course competition. This project not only strengthened my data analysis ability, but also made me deeply realize that teamwork can overcome many challenges and difficulties while encountered the project execution. I think these experiences have given me quite an experience in team working.

The second advantage is the experience of practical cooperation. During the research period, I took over two practical cooperation cases in the industry. One of the cases was using Python Web and Xml to write an open-source ERP system Odoo for Tai- Ling. At first, I was responsible for writing financial-related Code, but then I became the PM in this project. I had to test the system, import data into the system and track everyone’s progress. I encountered many difficulties during the process. One profound case was that the client data was found to be incomplete, which resulted in the inability to import the data smoothly and caused some pressure on progress. So I used R to sort and filter the data, quickly found out the wrong data and solved it. The role of PM was very important in the project, because you have to clearly control the progress and the implementation of the members. When a team member cannot complete the work as scheduled, I will learn more about the difficulties encountered by the members and try my best to help him/her solving the problem. Report the progress and status to teacher and adjustments immediately can also avoid affecting work progress. I think the experience of being a PM has greatly improved my ability to clearly report work progress to the teacher or supervisor. Among them, how to master the frequency of reporting the progress, how to work, and how to accurately communicate upward are all very valuable experiences. The above two abilities are also very important as being a CS. When encountering difficulties, you have to know how to use a logical way to solve problems; and when reporting, you have to know how to pass the received information through your own logic.

The third advantage is the team leadership experience. I was the president of the student association and also the captain of basketball team in our department. At the early period of being the basketball team captain, my team was not as good as other departments. we lost a few games initially, so the team atmosphere was very sluggish. In order to change the vibe, and in addition to increasing the amount of training, I started to cultivated a harmonious atmosphere in the team, set clear goals and practice plans which I thought would bring the team a good atmosphere and feelings and made the team to be able to play at the best efficiency in official matches. Afterwards, we finally won the third place in the school competition. This experience gave me the ability to communicate, to coordinate and to lead a team. You must cultivate a good team emotion and set clear goals for the team in order to succeed.
