Sunny Zia

Long Beach Community College District Trustee

An experienced Registered Civil Engineer with a broad history in public service and government affairs, Sunny Zia managed a range of military and municipal Capital Improvement construction programs in private and public sectors. For the past 13 years, she has been a Contract Compliance and Project Manager with the Port of Long Beach, playing an integral role in large rail support, oil field relocation, and large maritime infrastructure projects. In recognition of her work on the $144-million Port of Long Beach Pier A West project, Sunny Zia received a prestigious Construction Management Association of America Award.

Long Beach citizens elected Sunny Zia to the Area 3 Board of Trustees for the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) in 2014. As the sitting senior member of the LBCCD Board of Trustees, she is responsible for setting multifaceted public higher education policies including establishing workforce training programs for students, scholarships, and wrap around support services for LBCCD students struggling with homelessness.
