I am currently a sophomore looking for data related intern positions for Summer 2020. I attend the University of Washington majoring in Mathematics, and intend to double major with Informatics - Data Science. I will be staying in Taiwan over the Summer and am seeking an internship focusing on data science and data analytics, and open to website developer roles. I want to use technology to improve society and utilize my database management skills with SQL and expertise with R and Python to analyze data sets by answering pertinent questions and creating data visualizations.
I have prioritized my coursework around data science and have acquired a unique skillset that allows me to contribute to meaningful projects. Currently, I work as an Undergraduate Researcher by using Python to perform data analysis and maintain a database of collision cross section measurements. I have worked on many projects involving R, Python, and SQL all focused on leveraging data to gain business and data insights. Previously, I used R to scrape the Yelp Web API to conduct data analysis focused on helping prospective businesses owners with insight on how to open their businesses. I am comfortable conducting the same kind of data cleaning and transformation in Python, having previously perform linear and logistic regression tests on a confidential credit card application dataset. I have experience designing a SQL database and connecting to it with Power BI to analyze the data by creating visually stunning dashboards. In terms of mathematical background, I have experience as a Mathematics Instructor at Mathnasium so I have a good foundation of descriptive statistics and probability theory and being able to explain concepts to others in a coherent manner.
• Develop and maintain a web-based interface for the query of a comprehensive database of collision cross section measurements, and a bioinformatics platform for mass spectrometry data
• Create the web application using Python's Flask web framework and SQLite database and deployed with AWS.
