Dr. Khuong Nguyen did join the field following finishing this section of his school, he immediately learned that his true love was not in general dentistry but pediatric dentistry. In an attempt to assist him work within the profession that he sought, he took on the challenge of a two-year residency in pediatric dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center, a teaching affiliate of the New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, New York. One of his significant successes occured during the first year of this program. He was given the "Best Project in Pediatric Dentistry" at a research awards competition. This reaffirmed that pediatric dentistry was the sector Dr. Nguyen was supposed to work in and that he could accomplish great things working within this profession.
