About the job

The Google Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of Google’s cutting edge compute and storage machines to satisfy Google Data Center internal use and external Cloud customers. Our team designs and builds the hardware, software, and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Mechanical and Thermal Engineering Manager, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting Google users.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Build up and lead the Mechanical and Thermal engineering team in support of Google’s server, storage, and machine learning platform development in Taiwan.
  • Understand technology roadmaps and make sure the team is well positioned to support programs. Drive priorities and assignments of the team members.
  • Work with the larger team to gather requirements and define high level architectures for future platforms. Collaborate with engineers across the team on design, and review and approve the detailed designs.
  • Work closely with the Technical Program Manager team to create program plans and then provide technical leadership and direction on project development.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Product, and Deployment teams to produce designs and provide field support.

About us

Google’s mission is to organize the world‘s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

Since our founding in 1998, Google has grown by leaps and bounds. From offering search in a single language we now offer dozens of products and services—including various forms of advertising and web applications for all kinds of tasks—in scores of languages. And starting from two computer science students in a university dorm room, we now have thousands of employees and offices around the world. A lot has changed since the first Google search engine appeared. But some things haven’t changed: our dedication to our users and our belief in the possibilities of the Internet itself.
