▍About this role

As a Senior Embedded Engineer at AlfredCamera, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team focused on developing hardware-related products. This role presents exciting challenges as we relentlessly pursue the goal of maintaining AlfredCamera's position as the pinnacle of home security experiences in the market.

▍Responsibility

• Play an active role in all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Drive the embedded software development process, including system-level design, implementation, and optimization, to meet project goals.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define and refine software requirements and specifications, translating them into efficient and robust code.
• Tackle complex software issues by employing advanced debugging techniques and tools, ensuring rapid issue resolution.
• Take ownership of debugging, performance tuning, and system integration on physical hardware to achieve peak performance and reliability.
• Lead the architectural design, development, and maintenance of AlfredCamera’s software products, ensuring seamless cross-platform compatibility.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, implementing best practices to enhance the performance and capabilities of embedded systems.
• Establish and enforce rigorous code review, testing, and documentation standards to maintain exceptional software quality.

▍Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 7 years of practical experience in embedded system software development.
• Proficiency in both C++ and C programming, including strong debugging skills, and an in-depth understanding of C++14 language features.
• Solid track record of developing software on embedded Linux platforms.
• Familiarity with the design concepts of Linux networking stacks, coupled with hands-on experience utilizing related library APIs and applications.
• Practical expertise in building efficient build systems and automation pipelines, utilizing shell programming and tools like CMake/Makefile.
• Strong ability to translate technical requirements into detailed system designs, emphasizing usability, extensibility, and maintainability.
• Exceptional problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.

▍Preferred qualifications

• Previous involvement in firmware development for IP cameras and/or IoT products.
• Experience with multimedia-related technologies, including WebRTC, H.264/H.265, AAC/Opus.
• Proficiency in industry-standard protocols used in IoT products, such as XMPP, MQTT, and Matter.
• Hands-on experience in optimizing CPU and memory usage on resource-constrained hardware.
• Practical knowledge of deploying machine learning algorithms on edge devices.
• Development experience for Android, iOS, or web platforms.
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS), demonstrating an understanding of their constraints and capabilities.
