Job Description

We are looking at providing the best financial service to users in Japan. We empower PayPay product by realizing efficient, stable and optimized storage services. PayPay is looking for Platform Engineers who specialize in databases at scale on mission critical systems.  

Team Missions

• Make sure to satisfy requirements for datastores in PayPay
• Provide support for application teams to keep sustainable operations
• R&D to resolve issues from datastores perspective.

Main Responsibilities

• Database operations, including monitoring, configuration management, upgrade, scaling, backup, and data migration
• Iterate on database operations to improve quality and efficiency
• Troubleshoot stability and performance problems
• Contribute to documentation for communicating knowledge, experience and for effective decision-making. 
• Research and test new tools in database ecosystems, and adopt them in PayPay

Qualifications

• More than 5 years of DBA experience with a minimum of 3 years MySQL experience.
• More than 2 years of AWS experience. 
• Hands-on experience with infra as Code (laC- terraform) 
• Interested in new technologies and willing to improve operational quality and efficiency.
• Familiar with shell and programming language for scripting (Python, Go,....)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in automating operations related to Database or AWS
• Familiarity with Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes 
• Working experience in a full remote environment
• Experience in operating distributed systems 
• Experience working with NoSQL or NewSQL databases (like TiDB)

Work Hours

• Super Flex Time (No Core Time)
• In principle, 10:00am-6:45pm (actual working hours: 7h45m + 1h break)

Holidays

• Two days off per week (as well as national holidays, New Year's break(December 29th to January 4th))
• Paid leave, congratulatory and bereavement leave, maternity/paternity leave, family care leave etc

Salary

• Annual salary paid in 12 installments (monthly)
• Based on skills, experience, and abilities
• Reviewed once a year
• Special Incentive once a year *Based on company performance and individual contribution and evaluation
