A John Wayne Cancer Institute professor of surgery who maintains an established Santa Monica practice, Dr. Anton Bilchik also serves as chief of general surgery at the Providence Saint John’s Health Center and medical director of the hepatobiliary program. A pioneer in his field, he has developed minimally invasive approaches in treating pancreatic and liver cancer. Dr. Anton Bilchik has also innovated colon cancer staging techniques, and is experienced in advanced robotic and laparoscopic surgical procedures. Having published numerous papers in his field, Dr. Bilchik has participated in international multi-center clinical trials as investigator. Since 2001, he has received competitive funding through the National Cancer Institute for leading edge research into surgical oncology. He has a special interest in pancreas cancer and value based and in 2018, he coauthored the paper “What Are the Most Significant Cost and Value Drivers for Pancreatic Resection in an Integrated Healthcare System?” (Journal American College of Surgeons). Dr. Bilchik has a strong belief that patients should receive personalized care and be able to access the most advanced treatments possible. A longtime community outreach program participant, Dr. Anton Bilchik has presented on cancer early detection and prevention within underserved communities.
