Carl Byington directed the advanced development and engineering of health monitoring systems, diagnostic/prognostic algorithms, and smart sensors in pursuit of advanced, automated Condition-based Maintenance (CBM) and Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) solutions for shipboard, aircraft, and land-based applications.
Carl Byington has produced well over 120 publications related to advanced sensing techniques; signal processing; vibration monitoring; diagnostics and control; prognostics; data fusion; and equipment health management. He has received numerous awards including Best Paper Awards at AHS, MFPT, and IEEE conference events. He is also coauthor on 10 US awarded or pending patents related to predictive monitoring technologies.
Carl Byington's and his partners' efforts led to a successful acquisition of the company by Sikorsky Aircraft, a United Technologies Company.
