Darius Sivin, PhD, is an accomplished health scientist currently working for United Automobile Workers (UAW). Active in this position since 2002, he focuses on conducting workplace hazard investigations for traumatic injuries, chemical exposures, infectious diseases, and ergonomics. His activities have included negotiating health and safety contract language with Ford and Chrysler and testifying about chemical facility security before committees with the Senate and the House of Representatives. Prior to joining the United Automobile Workers, Darius Sivin served as a health scientist with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration. In academia, he has served as a research associate at Hunter College Center for Occupational/Environmental Health in New York City. Educated at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Darius Sivin completed his PhD in environmental and occupational health in 2002. His academic history also includes a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Chicago and a master of environmental studies from Evergreen State College.
