A former professor, Frank Noelker spent most of his teaching career at the University of Connecticut, which first he joined as an adjunct professor. Over the following nine years, Frank Noelker earned several promotions and eventually became an associate professor of art. In the position, he taught photography to both graduate and undergraduate students, and was also involved in student committees. While serving as the photography area’s coordinator, he oversaw the maintenance of its darkrooms and digital laboratories, among other studios. While with the university, Mr. Noelker earned three School of Fine Arts research grants. He retired from the institution in 2020. During his teaching career, he stayed active in the photography community and had numerous exhibitions of his work across the state. He is also the author of “Captive Beauty.” Published in 2004, the book featured an introduction by Dr. Jane Goodall. Frank Noelker’s work has also been seen in other books, such as Steve Baker’s “Picturing the Beast: Animals, Identity, and Representation.” A Rhode Island School of Design alumnus, he graduated in 1991 with a Master of Fine Arts in Photography.
