Kathryn Dardeck

Adjunct Faculty @ William James College
Kathryn “Kathy” Dardeck has worked with the Massachusetts-based William James College (formerly known as Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology) as an adjunct faculty member since January 2020. In this role, Kathryn Dardeck uses a blended approach to teach introductory courses in family systems therapy, using the Canvas platform. Prior to this, she spent fourteen years with Walden University, the last eight years as a full time, core faculty working in the clinical psychology doctoral program. In that position, she utilized the Blackboard online platform to interact with students, in addition to traveling to meet, teach and advise students in person at required academic residencies. While serving on doctoral dissertation committees at Walden, Dr. Kathy Dardeck was also a subject-matter expert for the creation and development of two courses, and oversaw the development of 4 additional courses as a Walden Academic Champion. She served on multiple faculty academic and administrative committees, and also received positive attention for her teaching, such as being a Faculty Excellence Award nominee in 2017. Kathryn Dardeck has presented at international and domestic professional conferences over the past three decades, as well as publishing in peer-reviewed journals. In 2019, she co-authored a piece in the Journal of Social, Behavioral and Health Sciences (JSBHS) titled “Locus of Control and Health Promotion for Marginalized Populations.” In recent years, through her colleague Dr. Nuriel Mor, Dr. Kathryn Dardeck became interested in the application of machine learning algorithms to help screen for various psychological disorders such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and even Learning Disorders. In 2018 she and Dr. Mor co-authored a publication in JSBHS titled "Quantitative Forecasting of Risk for PTSD Using Ecological Factors: A Deep Learning Application". Dr.'s Dardeck and Mor have most recently been working on a similar application of machine learning to screen for learning disabilities.
