The aim of this study is to discover a little known factor in Korean residential typology: the officetel. It is called that because it looks like a medieval fort, or castle, or some other type of walled enclosure, but in reality, it's not. It's not easily identifiable and appears more like a column that is found along the walls of many Korean homes. When you walk into a typical house you will see at least one column in the entryway or at the threshold. It could stand on its own as a separate unit, or it may be connected to other thresholds or entries.
