An alumnus of Cornell University, Parviz Soroushian obtained a Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the school in 1983 and subsequently began an academic career at Michigan State University (MSU) where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses and conducted research for 36 years. His specialty is in civil engineering materials, emphasizing sustainable materials and infrastructure systems. The research activities of Parviz Soroushian led to development of about 20 patented technologies and close to 200 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals. He has actively pursued industrial consulting, emphasizing market transition of new technologies in the field of civil engineering materials. Besides cement and concrete materials, his professional work has also emphasized functional materials, nanotechnology, composite materials, nondestructive testing, and sustainable infrastructure systems. Parviz Soroushian is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Michigan and a Fellow of both the American Concrete Institute and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is passionate about writing books that facilitate implementation of sustainable practices in the field of civil and environmental engineering. Parviz Soroushian enjoys sharing his professional experience by publishing online and in technical journals.
