Description
During my time at this university, I gain new insights related to information technology and business which raises my interest in the implementation of information technology in business even more. My interest then leads me to dig and research more information related to this field on my own. For instance, although faced with some limitations due to language barrier, I kept on being curious and always tries to find ways to sharpen and deepen my knowledge, both practically and theoretically. Online courses and the internet became my best friend during that time to help me learn programming and software engineering. As a result, the final project in school with my teammates was awarded the Excellent Work (佳作) title by the juries where I was responsible to be a full-stack developer. In addition, my teammates and I also achieved the Runner Up position in a business competition consisted of 20 different teams from across Taiwan by creating an AI-powered Chinese learning application. To deliver this application, my friend and I used React native as the frontend and also hosted our backend service on an instance on GCP. Furthermore, to get a hands-on experience on the real-world, I joined two internship programs. The first one was held by Ubestream, a start-up company that specializes in NLP. I got the chance to develop a React front-end and created a web hook application that connects the company’s AI model with chatbot. Continuing to the second internship, I joined eCloudValley as a Cloud Engineer where I got the opportunity to gain a better view of how the SDLC works, starting from the beginning of development until the deployment to the internet.
Besides school, I always try to contribute to society as well as improve my leadership and creative problem-solving skills by joining several organizations both inside and outside school. I’m grateful that when I was a sophomore, I was chosen to be the President of the Indonesian Student Association in my school. Our organization was able to be the home for the Indonesian students in the campus by organizing welcoming events, Christmas events, etc. and also we were able to connect with the other overseas Chinese students by collaborating with the other student organizations to organize our own event. In the following year, I continued to be the advisor for the organization. However, I also joined the Indonesian Student Association in Taiwan as a North Region representative for the organization. In this organization, I was entrusted to be the vice leader to held a camping activity participated by 100+ students. Known as one of the “tech guy” in the team, I was also entrusted to be the technical manager in an e-sport event that was joined by 20+ teams and was broadcasted to 1000+ viewers.
