An associate faculty member with Mission College since 1983, Dr. Robert Fettgather has taught a variety of psychology courses including classes in human development through the college International Students Program . His research interests include disability justice, institutionalization, and guardianship. Dr. Fettgather also spent 26 years as a teacher with a community college program at Agnews Developmental Center, which provided classes for adults with developmental disabilities. Dr. Fettgather holds a doctorate in psychology and master’s degrees in both psychology and education. Also the recipient of a bachelor of arts in psychology from San Jose State University, he maintains membership in the organization Psychologists for Social Responsibility. Dr. Fettgather’s writings have been published in the Transactional Analysis Journal and Voices: The Art and Science of Psychotherapy. A former volunteer with the Coalition for Elder and Disability Rights, Dr. Fettgather advocated for human rights for elders and adults with disabilities, visiting elders in congregate care and offering support for families of these individuals. He has also presented at various conferences and seminars related to disability rights issues.
