Roy E Huhs Jr

Operations Assistant & Pier Advisor @ Various Companies
After retirement, Roy E. Huhs Jr. of Washington State has continued serving in a leadership role for several companies during the Alaska cruise seasons. His roles have ranged from coordinating all service providers at the terminal and securing the safe movement of passengers, crew, and delivery services to facilitating ground transportation and excursions for passengers. After graduation from law school at the University of California, Los Angeles, Mr. Huhs served in legal positions in Los Angeles and Seattle. He became general counsel, risk manager, and corporate secretary for Entranco Engineers, where he was specifically hired to grow the company into a major regional engineering and environmental firm. Through his efforts, Entranco expanded to 14 offices in 9 states through mergers, acquisitions, and cold starts. After Entranco and while being partially retired, Mr. Huhs served as an arbitrator for the King & Snohomish County Superior Courts in which he decided real estate and contractual disputes. At the same time, he served as a hearing examiner for the City of Bellevue, Washington in which he heard appeals of civil code violations and land-use decisions. Prior to Entranco, Mr. Huhs was hired as associate general counsel at Rainier National Bank. During his tenue at Rainier, the bank expanded its coverage in Washington State and grew into an international bank with 5 offices in Asia and 2 international offices in Los Angeles and New York. Based upon his experience at Rainier, he wrote an article for the Banking Law Journal entitled “Conflicting Duties of a Bank -- to Disclose or not to Disclose”. This article analyzes the legal underpinnings and theories establishing the bank’s duty of confidentiality and those "special circumstances" creating a duty to disclose customer information. Upon graduating from UCLA Law School, Mr. Huhs worked for a Los Angeles law firm in which he performed legal services for international banks, cemeteries and mortuary businesses throughout California, and major real estate projects including Westlake Village and Acapulco Princess Hotel. Named in Who’s Who in American Law, Mr. Huhs has been politically active, running for a seat in the Washington State Legislature and as a Port Commissioner for the Port of Seattle, and having serviced as an elected council member and vice mayor for the City of Mercer Island. In addition, he held leadership positions for the election of two United States Congresspersons. In his free time, Mr. Huhs especially enjoys being with his family, traveling, and discussing world events and issues.
