Suzanne Lindsey

Alameda resident Suzanne Lindsey has a history as an elementary school teacher, a handwriting analyst, and a hypnotherapist. She also spearheaded Alameda County efforts to stop the construction and operation of nuclear power plants throughout the state of California. In the wake of her son’s tragic death in a plane collision in the air above Oakland Airport, Suzanne Lindsey lobbied city governments throughout the region to ensure that all small aircraft carry Mod C universal mandatory equipment to help prevent such accidents. Her work as a schoolteacher includes five years with the Mount Diablo Unified School District in Contra Costa County, California, where her areas of expertise included teaching academically gifted students. She earned a bachelor of arts in education and a life teaching credential from San Francisco State University in 1962. Outside of the professional and public service spheres, Ms. Lindsey stays active by swimming and sailing, Her other favorite pastimes include drawing and watching basketball.
