Since philanthropy and charity are often confused, understanding the difference is important.

Philanthropy is promoting the welfare of others by donating funds to good causes.

Despite the reputation of philanthropy being exclusive to individuals of wealth, this is not the case. According to the CEO and founder of Givelify, every individual is a philanthropist. This is because people use resources to determine the causes of issues within society and find solutions.

Charity is an organization established to provide assistance and raise funds for people in need.

Most people consider donating talent or time to charity. Nonprofit charities recruit volunteers or raise funds to help people in need. Most individuals agree that charity benefits from donating a few coins or donating an hour to volunteer.
