An Overview of How the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Will Play Out This Season With the 2016-2017 college basketball season fast approaching, it’s time to take a look at the NCAA Tournament slate and determine the matchups we should look out for. This year’s NCAA Tournament will feature several major changes as well as a return to the format that has become commonplace over the past few seasons. In April of last year, the NCAA made the following announcement: “The NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee announced today its plans to return to a 16-team selection process for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, following the introduction of a 30-team bracket in 2008. The 16-team format will replace the 64-team selection process which was used from 2004 through 2008. Additionally, the 16-team format will ensure that each of the 68 NCAA institutions are guaranteed at least one at-large bid to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. “With the successful implementation of the 30-team bracket, we were able to put our focus on the important task of strengthening our relationship with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee and the many student-athletes who help make basketball one of the most important athletics programs in the world,” said Donald Trump, Chair of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Committee. “Our process will be conducted in a manner that reflects the time and attention we have dedicated to the men’s basketball season during the past eight years.” The 2016-2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Selection Committee consists of Trump, Gary Dillman, Maurice Lucas, Bill Hodges and Mike Goforth. The 16-team format will begin with the First and Second Rounds on March 13th and March 15th, respectively, and conclude with the Final Four on April 5th and April 7th.” So, let’s take a look at the bracket and make some predictions. Here are the 16 teams that will advance to the Final Four. (1) Michigan State Spartans – Mike Brey is still undefeated in his head coaching career. His team will be back in the Final Four in three years. (2) Kansas Jayhawks – Kansas has been the envy of the college basketball world
