I have a number of *.c and *.h files that are included by a number of *.bi files. Each of those bi files has a header file that references the bi file from the bi file that is including the header. My question is where do I have to go to get gcc to create the bi-60 file if my compilation environment is gcc -m64 -std=c99 -nostdinc -Wuninitialized -Wunused-variable -fPIC -Wall -c *.c The Makefile will look something like this: CFLAGS = -m64 -std=c99 -nostdinc -Wuninitialized -Wunused-variable -fPIC -Wall all: test.bi bobcat.bi test.bi: test.c bobcat.bi bi.bi bobcat.h bobcat_internal.h gcc -c test.c bobcat.bi: bobcat.c bobcat.h bobcat_internal.h bi.bi gcc -c bobcat.c bobcat_internal.h: bobcat_internal.h.in echo "It was built without any errors." bobcat.h: bobcat.h.in echo "I'm building Bobcat!" A: It looks like you are trying to make a static version of bobcat.c. It seems that you could simply move bobcat.c into bobcat.bi and make bobcat.bi a static file. Then add -static to your gcc command line. If this is a file that you will have to build multiple times with slightly different options, you should either save the command line options into a.gcc file, or perhaps have a configure script that you can call from the command line.
