By Pupil/Student of Mine. February 5, 2017. For the most part, I’ve been quiet on the blog this year. Mostly, because I’ve been working. It’s been a grueling year, but I’m finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m going to be in a much better position next year. I have the first new program that I’ve written since I was in graduate school. I’m looking forward to sharing more. I am working on the blog at the moment to catch up on some of the things I’ve done this year. In November, there were elections for the NSW Mental Health Ministers – and for the first time in years, I’m excited to have the opportunity to vote! And, there are some things I’m very happy to have accomplished in the past year. Here’s a look at them. I received my NCTJ National Diploma in 2012. This is a national qualification which aims to help journalists understand and improve their practice. There are four options for the course. I chose Law Reporting and Law Journalism. I learned so much in the course, and I’m so glad I was exposed to that kind of content and methodology. It really inspired me to think about my own practice. I was able to attend the International Reporting Centre conference, with the Australian School of Communication. One of the teachers in the program gave a lecture there, and I got to interview him afterwards. It was a highlight of the conference for me. I had the pleasure of being interviewed by a television station in Canada on the issue of “toxicity” in fashion. I was also interviewed by a television station in Singapore, on the topic of “karma in wellness”. My interview was with a morning show for Singapore. They also aired a feature on me. There’s another event I’m very proud of. At the end of last year, I was awarded the Elizabeth Hamer Scholarship for Public Scholarship. This is a scholarship which is funded by the Elizabeth Hamer Foundation. The scholarship focuses on mental health research, based on the work of Elizabeth Hamer, who spent a career advocating on behalf of those with mental health issues. The scholarship is awarded for a Masters of Social Work. The amount of the scholarship varies, but is between $30,
