A personal trainer claims she was unfairly dress-coded for "showing too much stomach" at the gym while men were working out in little shorts.

Maria Reyes has racked up more than 269,000 followers by documenting her fitness routines and meal plans on social media.

But on one of her recent visits to a gym, she was criticized by a "gym Karen" who took offence to her outfit as it was apparently too revealing.

In the video, which has gained more than 4,700 likes on TikTok, the 20-year-old wrote: "Just got dress-coded at the gym in this exact outfit for showing 'too much' stomach."

Before adding in the caption: "But the Karen didn't say s**t to the dudes wearing booty shorts and low cut tank tops."

Viewers were left stunned by the claims as they took to the comments claiming she "needs to change gyms", to which she replied: "Luckily it’s not my usual gym."

Another wrote: "Time to cancel that membership and go somewhere else."

A third said: "Embarrassing for the gym, you look great."

"Change gyms babes, they were just intimidated," a fourth commented.

However, other users agreed with the complaint as one user said: "Based gym. Show off on the beach, not in the gym."

The news comes after a fitness model, who claimed she was kicked out of her local gym because racy photoshoots, has turned up to basketball courts dressed as a Playboy bunny.

Shirls Larson was allegedly kicked out of her local gym after being a member for six years after posting photos in skimpy outfits online.

But she has since taken to Instagram with videos of herself donning bunny ears and skimpy outfits to public basketball courts.
