Upcoming Exhibits Exhibits At the entrance to the library is an exhibition of concrete and steel sculpture by American artist Anne Prentice. The sculptures show the universal experience of home improvement: beginning, middle and end. Prentice combines the creative process of building with concrete to create a new sense of home and connection to nature. The exhibition represents her teaching, experimentation and mentoring of construction during the period of 2001 to 2003. A 4-year collaboration with R. D. Williams resulted in a video installation as well as a series of 3D prints of their work. Prentice describes the sculptures as “antidote” to concrete. They open the closed space and invite visitors to participate in the creative process. A 23-year collaboration with his wife Anne, artist Steven P. Crickmore has developed a passion for the sand arts as a way of taking the "time out" of life. His wife agrees and has also created a body of work that combines sculpture, photography, and landscapes to convey a sense of movement and exploration. The couple's work focuses on transforming earth into art. “After the Crash” is a collaborative installation of concrete and steel sculpture. The exhibit also includes a building-size slide and a postcard of the building and a gift shop. The building represents the first steps taken to move humanity toward a more sustainable future. It is based on the work of physicist and inventor Nikola Tesla. It can be moved if desired. Stephen Kim is an artist and educator. In 2011, he was appointed to the faculty at George Mason University, where he is currently the School of Art Professor. Kim has an abiding passion for the human experience as told through art, and is committed to using art to aid in addressing serious social, environmental, and global issues. Performances Breathing Room—The Boston Ballet is collaborating with the arts organization ArtBeat to present their 2017-2018 season titled “Breathing Room.” The collaborative work presents a three-part program featuring choreography, music, and art. About the Exhibit The exhibit, born of the extensive personal archival collection of Helen Kim and Stephen Kim, consists of over 200 bronze casts of architectural forms drawn from their imagination and knowledge.
