Plot One day in the city, a group of the inhabitants of Pandit’s shelter building kills the policeman posted there as guard and enter the house. They abuse the women of the house and abuse them. In anger, the women will hit out at them, and then Pandit is the one who steps in and says nothing. He sends his neighbour to the hospital and tells the doctor to save his life. The women are informed of this and the murderer kills Pandit with an axe. The police take both his and Pandit’s wife to the station. The police inspector informs the men of the shelter about the murder and Pandit's condition. The inspector wants to arrest the culprits, but the women beg the inspector to let them go as they had no involvement with it. The women are to go to their families. Pankaj has two girlfriends, one is name Rekha (Radhika Apte) and the other is Riya (Konkona Sen Sharma). Both Riya and Rekha are the wives of two of the people of the shelter. Rekha goes to her sister's house for the weekend and Pankaj takes Riya to her grandmother's house for the weekend. At Riya's house, the murderer rapes her. Riya goes to her husband's house, informs him of the rape and kills him. Later that night, the murderer enters the Riya's home and shoots Pankaj. The next morning, the murderer goes to Pankaj's house and kills him. Riya comes to Pankaj's house and she spots her husband's dead body. Pankaj's wife informs her that he was the one who killed her husband. The murderer, fearing the law, escapes. Riya and her grandmother rush to the police station. There, the inspector assures them of the murderer's escape. The inspector then sends Riya to her sister's house. Her sister tries to understand Riya, but she does not know what to say. The inspector and Riya return to the police station. Riya is asked by the inspector to tell her story
