• Executive Summary. The topic that will be discussed in this data analysis is what factors can affect the box office of a film. This topic was chosen because of the declining trend in cinema ticket sales during the pandemic to the transition to endemic. This analysis data will be presented to production directors, producers and filmmakers in a production house or studio to help them determine what things need to be considered so that the films made can produce the expected results.
• Why. This data analysis is carried out to provide recommendations to production directors, producers and filmmakers in production houses or studios to help them determine the things that need to be considered so that the film can produce the expected results
• Who. This analysis data will be presented to production directors, producers and filmmakers in a production house or studio.
• What. This data set was obtained from the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) site. Each row contains information in the form of title, rating, genre, year released, score, director, writer, star, country, budget, gross, company, and runtime of about 6000 films released from 1980 to 2020. This data set was chosen because the source was obtained from the most complete movie database website in the world.
• How. The results of the exploratory and explanatory analysis will be presented with several presentation slides projected on the big screen. A complete summary and appendix of the analysis will be distributed via printed hand-outs.
• Challenges. The concern is that the factors studied compared to the box office of a film do not have a very strong correlation. Are there other influencing factors? Should factors like specific release seasons or times be added, or festival film submissions, or day and date releases?
