Why Do People Love Going to Iceland?

United States
There are many different reasons that travelers all over the world love to visit Iceland. From the gorgeous backdrop of mountains to the beautiful cities and people, Iceland has become a popular travel destination. Starting with the food, Iceland is home to some of the most delicious and traditional dishes. Farming and fishing give a new spin to on farm-to-plate cuisine. The food is hearty, a strong current of seafood dishes sprinkled sparsely through with other proteins, including lamb. The fresh vegetables are a fantastic addition to any dish and make the New Icelandic cuisine a delectable delight for any hungry traveler. Depending on the time of year that someone would visit Iceland, they might be in for a treat with the lack of a setting sun. From mid-May to late July there is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the midnight sun. There are plenty of midnight sun tours that allow visitors to trek the lonely Icelandic natural attractions in the middle of the night. Iceland is also known as Europe’s whale watching capital, with over twenty species of whale calling the waters around the nation their home. Whale-watching tours are a fun way to spot these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. The natural world is also a strong reason so many visitors love Iceland. Its weird, quirky beauty nestles right into the heart quickly. From Lake Myvatn in north Iceland to the sweeping mountains and glaciers, the terrain is rough, unyielding, and gorgeous. One of the main tourist attractions for Iceland remains the Icelandic horses. Brought with Viking settlers, only the strongest horses survived the rough terrain. They are a hearty breed known for their gentle but spirited nature. The horses are adapted to the harsh beauty of Iceland. As such, touring by horse is popular for visitors to enjoy the harsher climes and rugged territory. Lastly, there are the northern lights. Situated just below the Arctic Circle, Iceland is one of the best areas in the world for viewing the northern lights. Take a break from the city and head further into the country, far away from the man-made lights. There, you can see the celestial show in all its glory, the glowing green lights snaking across the sky. Iceland is a perfect destination for anyone that wants to see the world in a different light. It’s no wonder that many visitors to the volcanic country are enthralled and love visiting!
