I had an issue similar to this with my new-to-me Brother HL-1940DN and I had to manually reboot my computer and then re-run the software to get it to connect. I suspect that it’s because I got my credentials out of order but I’m not sure. Like the other comment I had issues with the print head and black line too. Then it started to work on its own and then at some point it just decided to work. It only ever worked when the computer was turned off. I got my brother HL-1640DN like 4 months ago, it has been working fine, this past week the computer went out, on Thursday it wouldnt print anything, it would print white, my thought was bad connection, so I had my friend check for me, and when he connected the printer to the computer, it printed, but the paper wont go through the printer, so he had my husband uninstall the software, reinstall, reboot, etc, and I had my friend download the software again, and it worked, so when the computer boots up, and the printer is on, i turned the power off, and rebooted, and it works, it was a very frustrating day. I got the same thing, but I didn’t know where to begin. I re-installed the software, rebooted the computer, started the printer, turned the printer off, turned the computer off, and turned the printer on, and my printer worked for about an hour. Same as above, started out with nothing, then print head switch, then after a day I can finally print, but it seems that after one day, the printer just won’t do anything, if I turn the printer off, and on again, everything works fine. It does have a problem where if you are moving the printer a lot, it will stop printing, and after several minutes it’ll start printing again, but if you just drag it to the wall it won’t start printing.
