Intersection of 2 kinds of value - Exchange student in Sichuan University

In the February of 2014, I have got qualified to be an exchange student in Sichuan University, China for a semester. Standing in the land of a world’s factory which has been changing into a world’s market, I hoped and tried to seek for room for bringing communication in aspect of culture, economy and emotion between 2 lands across Taiwan strait where seems to be from the same origin but also has obvious differences. Through deeply ascertaining nearly 20 cities in 10 provinces or municipalities, I interacted and discovering each other with local surroundings in this land where an ancient culture originated. I have gained the abilities of collecting information, planning targets and adapting changes during my quest. And the experience has also made me decided to serve in international office when going back to Taiwan.

Connecting the world in Taiwan – International office volunteer in SCU

With the experience of exchange student and English ability, I have passed the interview of SCU international office and became an international volunteer. I also took part in the Chinese tutoring plan held by my department, marking a perfect ending for my 16 years of student career. Through communicating with students from around the world, l have learned not only the way to get along with people from difference cultures, establishing friendships that last until today, also clarified the role and position of Taiwan in the world stage under the immersion of different world views. Leading team building and designing China and Australia Zone for “SCU International Week” also let me reach a peak of leadership and creativity. And these foreign affairs mission laid my future marching towards international related career.

Spare no efforts in the front line of gateway of the country – Border Affair Corps of Kaohsiung International Airport

Finishing 3 weeks military training, with the advantages of educational background and TOEIC scores, I have squeezed myself into National Immigration Agency which provided only 100 vacancies from 500 substitute service personnel, and also being dispatched to Border Affairs Corp which was in demand. I Chose to leave my comfort zone of Taipei and trained my working ability before entering the workforce in the harbor city which is NTD 1500 away from home. The active attitude showing my ability of planning skills won me the opportunity to produce presentations for supervisors’ inspection during the first month of my service and the chance to participate the decision-making process. My experience of being on duty at the front line helping passengers solving problems about document and maintaining airport order has let me facilitate the communication between supervisors and subordinates in the unit; facing passengers who do not understand mandarin, English or Taiwanese has gained my skill by communicating with body language; one year working experience in the governmental unit has let me realize the nature of civil servants; and policies tendency; and the directing signboards that placed in the entry and departure passport inspection area even until today is my proud contribution.

Emerge in the business battlefield – Austrian based freight forwarder

Gebrüder Weiss, the oldest logistics company in the world that ever has been recorded, is an Austrian based family own enterprise with over 5 centuries of history, and it is also the ground zero of my working career. My aggressive attitude has me win the first business in the second month after entering the company in the extremely competitive freight forwarding filed, and has accumulated 5 long term customers within less than one year, visiting hundreds of potential clients. Also, through communicating with branches and suppliers around the world, I have also equipped with the knowledge foundation of international trade and transportation, business English and sensitivity to market rate. Meanwhile, to enhance my competitiveness, I make good use of trifle times such as noon break, off-work time, weekend and commuting time participating programs, reading books and doing online learning for many other expertise. I believe that the only way to survive in the ever-changing society is to race with the time and enrich myself.

Expand business technique ability – Japanese VR software technology

The Taiwan branch in NKSP of the Japanese civil engineering software company Forum8 provides solutions concerning city/homeland planning, traffic flow control, and driving simulation with Virtual Reality technology, and higher the quality and effect of research, training and construction for governments, construction companies and academic institutes. The insufficient manpower of the company has me gain experience with more aspects than typical sales. I have experienced planning for Smart City Expo, AutoTronics Taipei, assisting seminars for our software, promoting international VR contests, and producing many kinds of reports. Also, being at VR field also lets me more deeply understand the manipulating of VR software, related hardware devices, and vehicle technology.
