Dr. Richard Selden is the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Scientific Officer of ANDE. The leading provider of Rapid DNA Identification products and services, ANDE serves a clientele spanning the law enforcement, military, and homeland security communities of the United States and its allies. Since founding ANDE in 2004, Dr. Richard Selden has steadily worked to position the Company as a trusted provider to enable Rapid DNA Identification to be implemented broadly to enhance societal safety.
1981-1986 M.D.-Ph.D student, Department of Molecular Biology
1986-1988 Research Fellow in the Department of Molecular Biology
1989-1992 Resident in Pediatrics
1981-1989 M.D.
Cambridge, Massachusetts
1980-1981 A.M in Biology
1981-1986 Ph.D. in Genetics

Dr. Richard Selden is the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Scientific Officer of ANDE. Founded in 2004 as Network Biosystems (later shortened to NetBio), Dr. Richard Selden brought ANDE to life with the vision of dramatically enhancing the role of DNA Analysis in improving societal safety. Before ANDE, forensic DNA Identification was a complex process that only a small number of sophisticated laboratories could perform. With the advent of Rapid DNA technology and ANDE, forensic identification can be completed by non-technical users in the field—and in less than two hours, a fraction of the time a lab would take. Quick and accessible forensic identification is something Dr. Richard Selden has been driven to develop and provide for law enforcement, military, and homeland security applications. Dr. Selden’s vision turned into a reality with the successful completion of the ANDE system. ANDE allows Rapid DNA Identification to quickly and accurately conduct DNA fingerprinting. In 2016, the ANDE system became the first and only Rapid DNA product to receive National DNA Index System (NDIS) approval from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Dr. Richard Selden’s background in biotechnology is based on extensive education and research in molecular biology and human genetics. Dr. Richard Selden received his Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees from the Harvard and later went on to obtain his MD from Harvard Medical School.
Before founding ANDE, Dr. Richard Selden was a Pediatrician and Instructor in Pediatrics at the Massachusetts General Hospital. While obtaining his education, Dr. Richard Selden was simultaneously a teaching fellow, conference leader, and lecturer on biochemistry, biology, and cell biology at Harvard College, Northeastern University, and Roxbury Community College. He has always believed that people fortunate enough to have received a strong education must dedicate time to teaching and making knowledge accessible to all.
The ANDE team, along with Dr. Richard Selden, is located at 266 Second Avenue Waltham, MA 02451, USA
