Lars Hafner is an innovative and passionate professional with a career in education and politics. He has served as President of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, that area's oldest and largest public institution. Prior to assuming the role as SCF President, he served as the Provost at St. Petersburg College's St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus, as well as Vice President for Education and Student Services.
In addition to his career in education. Lars served for 12 years in the Florida Legislature. In this role, he spent the entirety of his legislative career as a member of the Florida House Appropriations Committee. He developed a reputation for fiscal prudence and helped write, negotiate, debate, and pass a multi-billion-dollar budget each year of service.
Lars Hafner is also the Creator of State College of Florida Collegiate School, a program that emphasizes globalization and the enrollment of first generation students. From middle school to high school it created a continuum of education that provides students the opportunity to graduate simultaneously with a high school diploma and Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree.
