Manoj earned his master of science degree at the Asian Institute of Technology and Universitaet Dortmund, specializing in Regional Development Planning and Management. Furthering his schooling, his executive education at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University was focused on leaders in development.
I have been with UNDP as the Country Director in Afghanistan (2008-2012) and Bangladesh (2006-2008); Country Programme Director and Deputy Resident Representative in Ukraine (2001-2005); Assistant Resident Representative and Sustainable Development Advisor in Nepal (1994-1998). In summary, the work has been about development strategies and policies; development programming and planning; management for delivery of sustainable results; building development alliances, partnerships and transfer of knowledge; mobilizing development resources and expertise; and bringing development effective development change for a better future.
I have served with the UNDP teams in the Bratislava Regional Center in Slovakia as the Deputy Manager and Policy Specialist of the Sub-regional Resource Facility (1999-2001) and the Colombo Regional Center (2005-2006) in Sri Lanka as its Deputy Regional Manager and Chief of Policy. The Regional Center and Sub-regional Resource Facility in Bratislava served UNDP's 25 country offices and country programmes in the Europe and CIS region. The Regional Center in Colombo served 30 or more country programmes of UNDP in the Asia and Pacific region.
I supported in establishing the Sub-regional Resource Facility in Bratislava and Regional Center in Colombo. I provided specialized policy as well as program development services in Europe and CIS and Asia Pacific regions respectively. I have been the Team Leader in the preparation of country development programmes; national state governance, local governance and development projects; business, enterprise and employment promotion for economic development initiatives; prevention of crisis through peace, reconciliation and development initiatives.
My professional experience through the Bratislava Center covers 24 countries of Europe and CIS region with focus on Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kazaksthan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzsthan, Macedonia, Slovakia, Tajikistan and Ukraine. Support from the Colombo Center covered 24 countries in the Asia Pacific with particular focus on Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
