Maurice Nicoleau, a former New York University student who recently earned a masters of social work degree, has provided psychological and welfare services to children and adolescents within clinical and academic environments. His work has involved conducting psychosocial assessments to determine children’s needs, implementing personalized treatment plans, and advocating for youth behavioral health and stability, among other tasks. He draws on extensive collaboration and communication skills when interacting with adolescents and families, as well as a client-oriented approach centered on attentiveness and understanding.

In 2004, Mr. Nicoleau began his career as a direct care counselor at Perkins School, where he managed crisis intervention, and taught interpersonal skills to children and adolescents with behavioral challenges. He later relocated to New York after a year with the Massachusetts-based school and spent 13 years at Queens Village Primary Care as a physician liaison for specialists in three disciplines. During this time, he helped to coordinate a published peer-reviewed study on African Americans’ medical-decision making.

In 2017, Maurice Nicoleau enrolled at New York University (NYU) to pursue a masters of social work degree. During his training, he gained experience treating adolescents who presented a variety of life challenges which proved to sharpen his skills as a clinician. He graduated in May 2020 with his MSW and currently serves as a public health advocate at NYC Health + Hospitals. Maurice Nicoleau is currently a candidate at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Nicoleau enjoys hobbies such as singing, percussion, dancing, and scuba diving.
