Dr. Nita Katherine “Kathy” Babcock received a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she gained admittance to national honor society Phi Lambda Upsilon. She went on to graduate with a bachelor of science and a doctor of medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Remaining at UNMC, Dr. Nita Katherine Babcock completed her clinical training by fulfilling the requirements of a rotating internship and an anesthesiology residency in the Department of Anesthesiology.
Over an anesthesiology career spanning more than 40 years, Dr. Babcock has served in a number of roles, including as an associate professor with Creighton University Medical School. There, her responsibilities involved handling trauma cases in the operating room, in addition to overseeing medical students and residents. Dr. Kathy Babcock has also given various presentations as a principal investor for the government program TeamSTEPPS, an evidence-based set of teamwork tools designed to optimize patient outcomes.
A member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Dr. Babcock has most recently served as an anesthesiologist with medical centers in Wyoming and Michigan. Since 2018, she has treated patients at Mercy St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
