Hello everyone, my name is Roger Lin.
I have over 10 years of experience as a software and firmware engineer in Hsinchu, having developed over 20 products including several Wi-Fi routers, 5G-NR/LTE CPEs, and USB dongles for networking purposes.
These products use various WAN interfaces such as DOCSIS, Ether port, or 5G-NR/LTE modules, and LAN/WLAN interfaces such as Ether, Wi-Fi, or USB.
In terms of 5G-NR/LTE development, I am familiar with operating ATcmd and conducting technical testing such as dialing, disconnection, and handover through Anritsu testing equipment.
I am also experienced in router operation, TCP/IP network technology, and packet control using iptables.
I have led a team of 2-4 people to develop and maintain product functionality.
Initially, I collaborated with hardware colleagues to declare GPIO, I2C bus, PCIE bus, UART, and other parts in DTS based on hardware circuit design, and developed necessary software functions such as PWM fan and heartbeat LED.
Later, I integrated chip vendor drivers and BSPs based on the connected module's functionality and model, enabling external modules to operate smoothly.
Finally, I implemented various customized functions and maintained them based on customer needs.
To enhance my and my colleagues' professional skills, I regularly organize technical meetings to share and discuss technical topics, such as the system architecture of OpenWRT and porting skills for drivers.
Additionally, to speed up product development, I have developed some internal automated tools, such as automatically and quickly updating patch contents during SDK upgrades, which estimatedly reduced 1/3 of expected working hours and effectively reduced the engineers' technical requirements.
In my past work, I have rich experience in customer support and business travel, having traveled to India, Spain, Rome, Jamaica, China, and other places.
Most business trips were solo, and the longest one lasted nearly two months.
The primary purpose of these trips was to demonstrate or verify product functionality, often requiring meetings with customers and explaining testing procedures, with basic English communication not posing a significant problem.
From 2015 to 2018, I attempted entrepreneurship, conducting environmental evaluations of various locations through storefront searches and learning about purchasing and logistics of raw materials and arranging human resource scheduling through contact with franchisees.
I have performed well in my current job, being named the outstanding employee of 2019 within one year of joining and promoted to staff engineer in 2021.
My professional skills and accumulated experience have allowed me to grow quickly, and I will help the company continue to improve in the future.
