For over 16 years, Lawrence, KS resident Stephen J. Ware has served as professor of law for the University of Kansas. During his teaching career, he has taught at six law schools, including as a visiting professor. Stephen Ware coaches law students on the bankruptcy law moot-court team as well as serving as the faculty advisor to the KU Law chapter of the Federalist Society.
An author of four books, Stephen Ware has also published 42 law review articles and numerous pieces for other periodicals. His scholarly writings focus on arbitration, other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), judicial selection, bankruptcy, and commercial law. The U.S. Supreme Court as well as at least 30 other federal and state court cases have cited his writings.
In addition, Stephen Ware has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and a number of state legislatures. He has also appeared on radio and television and been quoted in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.
Professor Ware is an elected member of the American Law Institute and is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He served on the editorial board of the Journal of Legal Education from 2016 to 2019.
