Job Description

Homescreen, Search Browsing, Location Filters and Listing Details Page are critical parts of various user journeys in Carousell, and we are building the next generation technology to power our business.

We are always improving our buyer platform that powers most of these flows and our challenge is that it needs to cater to tens of millions of users and billions of listings. Isn't it exciting? How can you participate? We're looking for a talented backend engineer willing to make a huge impact in a fast growing company, leader in SouthEast Asia. Come and join our Engineering Team based in TW!

You Will:

• Work closely with the product managers and designers to build new and key features for Carousell on Android that power the growth and success of buyers and sellers
• Analyze and optimize performance and reliability of the Android app by working closely with your Android teammates.
• Be able to advise the product team on Android UI/UX best practices.
• Write clean, testable code with unit tests.

You Have:

• 3+ years of experience in developing Android applications using Android SDK
• Experience with Kotlin and Java
  
• Ability to design and execute solutions independently
  
• Ability to deal with complexity and manage stakeholders like other client engineers, backend engineers, Design and Product team
  
• Experience with Android performance profiling, memory and power management and optimizations
  
• User obsession and empathy.
  
• Drive and resourcefulness to persevere and overcome obstacles achieving challenging goals.
  
• Focus on impact and results. You work on the right things and get them done.
  
• High integrity and ability to positively collaborate with others
  

Good to have:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other equivalent degrees/experience.
• Experience with online classifieds marketplace or ecommerce systems.
