At Pickupp, we heavily rely on data to make decisions. Indeed we believe some of the hard problems here in the technology team can only be solved with the correct data research and model built before our engineers put it into working code. With teams spread across Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Taiwan, you will get to learn working in a uniquely remote team environment.

Our business is growing very fast with more of these hard problems appearing. We are looking for passionate and skillful Senior Data Scientist to take up the challenge and dig deeper into these problems and corresponding data than we currently do. You will be able to apply what your problem solving skills, research skills, analytical skills and data modelling skills to solve real problems in the logistics space. You also get a chance to coach and teach juniors and practice and improve many other soft skills like project management, communication and leadership etc.

About The Role:

• Build models and tools using technical knowledge in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative techniques.
• Understand the business reality behind large sets of data and develop meaningful analytic solutions.
• Utilizing SQL and code (Python, R, etc.) for analyzing data and building statistical models to solve assigned business problems
• Explore new data sources and data gathering techniques.
• Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models, carry out experiment and monitor outcomes.
• Further enhance processes and visualization tools to help business monitor key metrices and build operational alerts based on data.
• Breakdown complicated problem for juniors to work on, monitor their progress, enforce best practice and guide their growth
• Communicating verbally and in writing to business customers and leadership team with various levels of technical knowledge and promote data-driven decision making culture in the company.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or above in STEM or Economics
• 3+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
• 2 years working as a Data Scientist
• Strong proficiency in SQL
• Direct experience analyzing A/B experiments
• Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
• Practical understanding and hands-on experience with regression modelling (linear and logistic) is preferred
• Direct experience with both supervised learning methods (linear and logistic regression, time-series modelling, generalized linear models, decision trees, random forests, support vector machines, etc.) and unsupervised learning methods (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal components) is preferred
