Abe Mashinsky

Artist
“Painting has always been a way for Abe Mashinsky to depict images that do not exist in reality. His work seems to be a battle between structure and spontaneity. His conscious makes things happen, while his subconscious allows things to happen. The construction and deconstruction of shape creates a layering of color that adds depth and richness to the painting. For Abe Mashinsky, art is the accumulation of ideas, steps and processes. With his abstract compositions Abe does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colors, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect. From a distance, the multimedia art of Abe Mashinsky's paintings may appear like simple abstracted landscapes, but a closer inspection of these pieces reveals a complexity of layers, textures, and media. Using materials such as, paper collage, sand, sea salt, acrylic paint, wax pencil, oil pastes, and more. Abe laboriously creates pieces that inspire mood, reflections of places and things that fascinate him.

Work Experience

Fine Artist

Oct 1998 - Present
Born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Abe Mashinsky’s love of art developed at a very young age. Throughout his childhood, Abe loved creating art and could often be found at his art table surrounded by paper, pencils, paint, glue, and glitter. After high school, Abe enrolled at Rutgers University and continued taking art classes to further develop his artistic skills. First it was collaging, then drawing, and finally, his true love, painting. Abe’s life forever changed learning the science behind oil painting and the use of mixed-media. Combining old techniques with new, Abe says she is in constant pursuit to develop his talent, challenging himself by using multiple mediums and techniques. The beautiful skies and landscapes are the source and inspiration for many of Abe's paintings. He also enjoys painting figures, abstract pieces and portraits.
