MiTravel offers an efficient, intuitive, and collaborative way for travellers to plan and manage their upcoming group trips. In December 2021, we officially launched the MiTravel Planning Board (Beta) to the public. In my role, I manage many moving pieces across the areas of product, people, and marketing. I lead a cross-functional team of Designers, Engineers, as well as Marketers; and own the end-to-end product management process for our web-app, from conducting 300+ discoveries to identify the customer problem, testing and validating concepts, developing the product roadmap, prioritizing features, establishing KPIs and analyzing performance, to gathering feedback from users to improve the product. I also create organic content across various marketing channels and execute the go-to-market strategy. Throughout the journey of building MiTravel, I recruited and onboarded 80+ students, industry professionals, and advisors to support our Design, Engineering, and Marketing efforts. I also manage the end-to-end HR process and implement programs that enhance the overall employee engagement, development, retention, and well-being.

Event Facilitator & Behaviour Interviewer (Freelance Remote)

Jan 2018 - Apr 2023
5 yrs 4 mos
Arc helps companies effortlessly hire world-class remote engineers and teams, and is the new era of Codementor. While Codementor continues to be a mentorship platform under Arc, CodementorX has incorporated into Arc’s expanded hiring solution (retiring the name CodementorX). 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 | 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 - 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 With the launch of Arc’s Featured Developer Program, I returned to host and educate interested developers on how the process works and what they can expect by joining the program. To date, I have facilitated 10+ bi-weekly virtual events attended by an accumulated total of 300+ developers. 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐫 | 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖 - 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 As the first freelance interviewer hire, I was in charge of conducting stage two of the three-stage developer vetting process. My team has since grown where I worked alongside 5 remote interviewers across 3 time zones. To date, I have interviewed 500+ software developers (front-end, back-end, fullstack, mobile) across 5 geographical regions, including Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America for both freelance and full-time remote work opportunities.

Co-Founder | Brand Marketing, Events Management & Product Development

May 2019 - Nov 2021
2 yrs 7 mos
Vancouver, BC, Canada
Launched in late November 2019, Boss Lady Collective is a Vancouver-based, female-founded e-commerce brand that is redefining women’s workwear from a feminine perspective, while also building community to empower future female leaders. In my role, I focused primarily on the business and marketing operations. This included (but not limited to) securing and cultivating strong relationships with 5+ factories and design partners across Asia and Canada, developing and launching our 2 collections (Fall in Love with Confidence in Fall 2019 and Bloom with Grace in Summer 2020), as well as executing the full-cycle product marketing campaigns which led to orders placed immediately upon launch. I also managed a digital content calendar (social media and email) and formed key strategic partnerships with 25+ Canadian brands, entrepreneurs, and micro influencers, which resulted in a consistent monthly reach of 30K. Beyond workwear, BLC also presents personal and professional development opportunities for women to grow and succeed in their careers. I initiated and built this bi-monthly community event series from the ground up, when I saw the detrimental effects COVID had on everyone. Since then, I organized 10+ virtual educational workshops and industry panels. The topics range from career, entrepreneurship, mindset, personal finance, to health and wellness, all of which were well-received by our audience of 350+ women and entrepreneurs. It has been a thrilling ride running Boss Lady Collective over the past 2.5 years, and I am thankful to everyone who supported us along the way. While my journey with BLC has come to a close, I am excited to see it continue to grow under the leadership of my Co-Founder, Savneet Sandhu!

Program Specialist, Associate Development & Student Recruitment

Apr 2021 - Jul 2021
4 mos
Vancouver, BC, Canada
As the Program Specialist, I work closely with the Director of Lawyer & Student Development on all facets of campus recruitment and delivering nation-wide student and associate programming. In terms of campus recruitment, I liaised with 10+ law schools’ career services offices and student organizations to arrange virtual employer panels and open houses. We engaged with a culmination of 300+ law students through these events and shared our firm highlights, culture, as well as answered questions about our program, in preparation for the 2L Summer recruitment. I also managed our firm’s profile and student application process through viLawPortal / viDesktop. As for student programming, I arranged the law society admission applications for 40+ students (summer and articling), delivered the remote orientation welcoming 20+ summer students to the firm, and organized the weekly legal curriculum and AMA panels. In terms of associate development, I executed and handled overall logistics for our in-house professional development seminars. This included (but not limited to) scheduling speakers, managing timelines, applying for LSBC/LSO accreditations, and liaising with IT as well as Marketing to set up web conferences and create branded e-invitations. I also facilitated the lateral recruitment process and scheduled interviews between the Director, respective hiring team, and candidate, while managing varying availability.

DLA Piper (Canada) was established in April 2015 with the combination of Davis LLP and DLA Piper LLP (US) and is an integral part of DLA Piper’s global network in the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. With lawyers delivering services in more than 50 practice areas, DLA’s clients range from multinational, Global 1000, and Fortune 500 enterprises to emerging companies developing industry-leading technologies. Initially, I was hired to support the Marketing team and 250+ lawyers across Canada with communications, events, ranking submissions, requests for proposals (RFPs), and general marketing administration. By the second month, my role expanded to work on and lead small-to-large scale projects for the firm. I evaluated business development opportunities for our legal practice groups, prepared summarized analysis on the market and competitors, alongside my recommendations, for the Marketing Manager. I was selected by the HR Director to work with the lead software developer to build and launch the internal Just-in-Time feedback tool, as well as create marketing materials to educate and onboard 550+ staff across the 5 Canadian offices. I was also selected by the COO to lead the alumni website development (which successfully launched 1.5 months ahead of timeline), followed by the careers website rebranding where I managed a cross-functional team and design agency, while liaising with senior executives.

Program Manager, Women Investing in Skills & Experiences (WISE)

Apr 2018 - May 2019
1 yr 2 mos
Vancouver, BC, Canada
Young Women in Business is a community for emerging female leaders and young professionals who want to create their success. WISE is a two-semester program that allows participants to learn and enhance their skills through workshops, socials, and company office tours. Based on feedback received from past participants and insights gathered from the market survey I conducted, I re-built the program model from the ground up with a niche focus on teaching young women industry-leading tech skills. I introduced a theme-based curriculum, increased the number of classes (per semester) from 3 to 5, added a member and instructor orientation, and initiated the first-ever Demo Day / Hackathon. I also implemented a new member and instructor recruitment and selection process, as well as outlined specific program metrics to monitor. This new structure that I kickstarted resulted in a 130% increase in program growth, and became a standard followed by all the future WISE teams. Alongside the revamp, I recruited and led 2 program coordinators in broadening WISE's presence and exploring corporate partnerships. Together, we recruited 15 industry professionals as program instructors, and collaborated with leading tech companies including (but not limited to) Apply Digital, A Thinking Ape, Lighthouse Lab, and Telus Digital on office tours and speaking engagements. In addition, we secured over $6,500 in monetary and in-kind sponsorships, on top of a free 1-year licensing key from Sketch and InVision, free media exposure from DailyHive, and free catering from multiple restaurants. All of these enhanced the overall program experience for our 40+ members and contributed to the high Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 95%.

JDC West is the most prestigious undergraduate business competition in Western Canada. I was selected, out of a competitive pool of over 100 applicants, to represent SFU in the Marketing Team for the Academic stream of SFU JDC West. Throughout the course of 7 months, my team and I trained 2-3 times per week and engaged in 4 mock competitions. I analyzed and conceptualized marketing strategies for 20+ corporations and start-ups, based on the issues identified in the case brief and my knowledge of current industry trends. On the competition day, my team and I received 1st place against 12 other Marketing teams for the strategic holiday marketing campaign we pitched to Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC).

Marketing & Design Contractor, Office of International Programs

Jun 2018 - Dec 2018
7 mos
Burnaby, BC, Canada
The Office of International Programs (OIP) at the Beedie School of Business provides a wide array of support services for Beedie students, international programs, and external university partners. While my contract was initially signed for 2-months, I received an extension to end of 2018. Before starting my role, I noticed the content across the @BeedieAbroad social media channels was quite rigid and too focused on selling as opposed to demonstrating the value, benefits, and cultural exploration students can experience. Therefore, within my first week, I developed, presented, and executed a marketing strategy that focuses on content curation and student storytelling. I re-directed our social media efforts to curate relevant travel content shared by others, while also promoting our 120+ university exchange partners and study abroad experiences of exchange alumni. This student-orientated messaging garnered attention and increased the number of followers on our Instagram and Facebook by 45% and 19% within the first month. During my term, I also penned and redesigned all marketing materials and lead generation campaigns for the office including print, web, and digital communications. In addition, I raised 4,000+ students’ awareness of study abroad opportunities and the Office of International Programs by leveraging my existing student network and relationships to form strategic partnerships with multiple student-led organizations and events. These efforts (along with conducting 30+ classroom presentations) contributed to a record-breaking student application number, allowing the office to receive 150+ exchange applications for the 2019-2020 exchange semesters.

Codementor is the largest community for developer mentorship and an on-demand marketplace for software developers. Users can get instant coding help, build projects faster, and read programming tutorials from their community of developers. In my dual-facet role, I worked alongside both the Community Manager and Product Manager. In terms of Marketing, I researched and reached out to media groups, influencers, and socially curated sites (e.g. Reddit, Hacker News) to increase exposure and obtain backlinks to our Codementor Blog content. I also engaged with the developer community and initiated dialogue through writing blog posts and facilitating discussion questions. In terms of recruitment, I accelerated the process by headhunting software developers directly using external resources (e.g. LinkedIn, HNHiring). I also took charge of the three-stage vetting process and screened over 50 software developers to maintain the overall quality of developers within the CodementorX marketplace.

Fairchild Radio is the only national multicultural radio network in Canada. There are two stations based in Vancouver: AM1470 and FM96.1. As Vancouver’s most established multicultural radio station, Fairchild Radio has been able to attract listeners of all ages with its various program offerings. Utilizing my skills in English and Mandarin, I interacted with small-to-medium businesses (SMB), advertisers, and agency representatives across BC to aid in contracting, commercial scripting, and production preparations. The accounts I managed included (but are not limited to) Cirque du Soleil, Dilawri Group of Companies, Goh Ballet, LBMG, LEONE, TaiwanFest, Vancouver Auto Show, Vancouver Boat Show, and Riverway Clubhouse. I also helmed the planning and execution of 4 large-scale BC event promotional proposal details for the flagship Vancouver Auto Show and Vancouver Boat Show, which resulted in 2,500+ in attendance. The promotional activities included 30-seconds commercial spots, 45-minute interview segments, on-air giveaways, and remote broadcast on the day of the event.
