After securing her bachelor of arts in physical sciences from Harvard College in Boston, MA, Dr. Deborah Markowitz attended the New York University Grossman School of Medicine in Manhattan to obtain her doctor of medicine. She subsequently returned to the greater Boston metropolitan area and completed both an internship and a residency in internal medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. Dr. Deborah Markowitz ultimately chose to focus on pulmonary and critical care medicine, training in these disciplines for three years through a fellowship at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital. Early in her career, Dr. Markowitz established the inhaled nitric oxide program and directed the exercise physiology program at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. She went on to direct or chair dozens of units and committees at several local hospitals and medical centers. Dr. Deborah Markowitz founded Pulmonary Associates of MetroWest in 2004 and continues to serve as its president and owner. Her work with this Framingham-based practice includes providing comprehensive pulmonary and critical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
