An experienced pain medicine physician specializing in spinal cord stimulators and other advanced pain procedures, Dr. Michael L. Murphy operates a private practice in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Michael L. Murphy launched the practice in 2019. Before that, he worked in various leadership roles at medical facilities throughout Texas, including chairman of the board at Physicians Ambulatory Surgery Center and president of Palestra Rehabilitation and Sports Training (the latter of which he helped launch). A serial entrepreneur, Michael Murphy, MD, also developed a 70,000-square-foot medical office building in downtown San Antonio, and is one of the founding members of STAR Anesthesia. Earlier in his career, he was a founding partner of Consultants in Pain Medicine, where he spent 24 years. Board certified since 1986, Dr. Murphy was chief resident of anesthesiology at Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital and Bexar County Hospital, and previously completed an internship at the University of Texas Medical School. He obtained his MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and also holds a bachelor's degree in biology.
