A graduate of Miriam College, Elsa Afroilan has a bachelor of science in psychology which she earned in 2006. An experienced financial professional, Elsa Afroilan also holds professional certifications related to her work, such as being OMEGA-certified in business lending. Stemming from a recent role as the commercial banking relationship manager at the Arlington Community Federal Credit Union, she holds a certificate in business lending from the Credit Union Executive Society. Ms. Afroilan is also a graduate of Chevy Chase Bank's elite retail management program. During her career, she has been the recipient of multiple accolades. For example, she was a Silver Awardee for Leadership, which was granted by Bank of America. In 2017, Elsa Afroilan was named an emerging leader by the Maryland Bankers Association. Alongside her career in finance, she has been a community volunteer for several non-profits, such as the Capital Area Food Bank of DC. She is also an avid plant lover and has developed extensive knowledge focused on caring for indoor plants.
