As a classroom teacher, I am responsible for delivering fun and precise academic instruction to students each day that is engaging and safe. I get the pleasure of hanging out with a classroom full of smiling faces who are eager to learn and grow in every way, who trust me to help them with just that. During time they are away from the classroom, I have other duties like lesson planning, MTSS Math planning, SIT team member, lesson preparation, and grade level meetings to help plan and make the best decisions for our students. I have a busy demanding position, and I love every minute!

As a teacher in a second grade classroom, I was responsible for 20-25 students each day from having breakfast in our classroom, to pick-up duty in the afternoons. I planned engaging lessons from Reading to Math, while working with one other grade level teacher. As the senior educator, I was able to help my partner develop her ability to teach writing using reading through co-teaching. I worked hard to plan fun, small group modeled lessons that reached each student where they were in order to help them grow to their fullest potential.

While tutoring children in my local community, I was able to sharpen many educational tools I would need for my future as a classroom teacher. Through tutoring I developed a deeper understanding of number sense and phonics skills needed to reach struggling students.
