James Martinez leverages over 20 years of law enforcement experience to serve as a police officer with the City of Calipatria, California. In this capacity, his responsibilities include investigating felony and misdemeanor cases, overseeing prisoners, and issuing citations to those who commit infractions. Concurrent to his role as a police officer, James Martinez investigates animal cruelty and neglect cases as a humane officer for the Southwestern SCPA. There, he has also developed several programs aimed at encouraging veterans, at-risk youth, and others to become involved in the area of animal welfare. Previously, James Martinez spent a decade as a school police officer with the Apple Valley School District Police Department. Over the years, he developed a series of programs that provided students with pathways toward careers in law enforcement after graduation. A graduate of San Bernardino Valley College, James Martinez began his career in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. In 1993, he earned the Sheriff’s Medal of Valor for demonstrating bravery while on the force.
