Pam Northrup is a Florida-based education leader and innovator. Her focus is on online learning, adult education, and competency-based education. Dr. Northrup earned a PhD in instruction systems and educational media at Florida State University in 1993. Since then, Pam Northrup has held various leadership positions in higher education institutions in Florida.
In October 2019, Dr. Northrup became a consultant in the higher education sector. She works with numerous companies and is also writing a book on accelerating learning in higher education. Her areas of expertise include online learning, design thinking, micro-credentialing and adult degree completion.
Over the years, Dr. Northrup has published numerous papers, written book chapters and textbooks, and given many presentations. Launching online learning systems, adult degree completion, competency-based education, and using innovation practice to solve strategic, global issues have been prominent presentation themes.
Before her work as a consultant, Dr. Northrup worked in public higher education for 25 years as a senior leader, a researcher and faculty member. During this time, she initiated and implemented a number of projects. She was part of a team that created the National Flight Academy, which aimed to support education in the STEM field. Dr. Northrup also created various distance learning programs for both children and adults. She also launched a resource center for veterans, active military personnel, and their families.
