Committed to Humanitarian Causes with Real World Impact
With a background as a political leader, Omer Rains served three terms in the California Senate where he forged numerous pieces of legislation that helped preserve the state and the nations environment. He also launched the impact-driven private equity-financed Marshall Plan Venture Capital Fund, LP, which promoted causes of global sustainability and opportunities for local indigenous communities world-wide over the past two decades.
Sen. Rains has also been involved in many noteworthy volunteer efforts including service as Chief International Advisor of the Save the Heart Mt. Everest Expedition, heading a group of veteran mountaineers who were to travel, hike and climb nearly 1,000 miles from Bangladesh to the summit of Mt. Everest in Nepal, helping to address people suffering from heart disease or other challenges all along the way.
Sen. Rains is also a noted author who brings focus to a personal journey of overcoming life challenges as set forth in the International Best Seller, "Back To The Summit". A centerpiece of the book is a brain aneurysm and stroke that threatened his life and left him partially paralyzed. Instead of letting this event prevent him from moving forward, Rains used this obstacle as an impetus toward devoting his life to promoting literacy and economic development in order to help the dispossessed and poverty-stricken in several countries in the developing world.
