I am serving on Open Platform Motherboard Design Department in ASUS from 2008 to now for 10 years. I am "Function Senior Manager".
During my ASUS tenure, I handle power distribution of Intel or AMD platform system most of the time. I can independently design digital/analog power conversion, signal interference inhibition, ATX Power Supply compatibility controlling. We often use Power IC by Infineon, International Rectifier, Richtek, TI, UPI and MPS. For example, we use Infineon Controller and build 14 phases buck voltage regulator. It can correspond AMD CPU Power Specification requiring that its core voltage fluctuation is lower than 372mV even if core current change from 240A to 40A and 200A load step. It also can maintain low temperature in the CPU full loading time.
During compulsory military service, I was sent to Taiwan's Taichung court to serve as an alternative service. For most people seldom get in, I need to arrive on time every morning. I saw the person who was in debt. Sometimes I saw the suspect escorting by the police. I also gained legal knowledge that I had never paid attention before. This is really a valuable experience in my life.
We use digital power controller IC that users can get the real time information about output/input voltage and current by I2C protocol. This provide colorful GUI for end user to monitor device's power consumption and power saving result. Therefore, it provide RD develop many kind mod and show fault flag like OVP, OCP and OTP for customer failure analysis statistics.
This Zenith Extreme is AMD's high-end desktop platform. This brings advanced overclocking, cooling and lighting together. It supports AMD Ryzen Threadripper TR4 of 16 cores CPU.
MoreI designed eight phases IR power stage on this project. It can support 165W and 121A instantaneous current to CPU core. This design use IR digital VR controller to provide many enhanced function, such as VRM spread spectrum for low EMI mode, phase number optimization for transfer efficiency. This design can sufficient response to meet intel VR12.5 power specification.
This project integrate intel i7 7700 and Nvidia GTX1060 in only four liter spacing. We need to controlled 200W power distribution to optimal voltage stable and temperature.
