Deborah Upchurch

Deborah Upchurch is a highly motivated individual with over 15 years of experience in law enforcement and public safety. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Science at the New Jersey City University. Deborah is responsible for training all new police recruits, evaluating officer performance, and acts as liaison to the Essex County College Police Academy. She is currently the Police Lieutenant/Instructor and is also acting Communications Specialist. She has been instrumental in training law enforcement and public safety officers as well as creating and modifying departmental policy/procedures to improve efficiency. When law enforcement officers study for exams that are required for promotion they are undoubtedly going to be mentored by Deborah Upchurch. She creates curricula from scratch and customizes each course or learning tool for the recipient. She is a master at planning and policy making in order to increase efficiency and success of her fellow officers and as a department as a whole. Currently Deborah is studying for her Doctorate of Science from the New Jersey City University. She already holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration and a MAS in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Deborah Upchurch is the kind of person who is always seeking to better herself and others. When she is not helping others train to achieve career related success she immerses herself in her studies. Some classes she has taken include: Leading in Times of Crisis, Teaching with Technology, National Incident Management Systems, Global Issues, Public Safety Training, and Community Relations.
