Former professor Mitch Hanlon spent more than 25 years at California State University, Fullerton, where he taught musical theater and served as coordinator of the school’s musical theater Bachelor of Fine Arts program. Since retiring, he has focused on creative pursuits such as musical directing a production for the Discovery Cube Children’s Museum in Orange County. A member of the Musical Theater Educators Association, Fullerton resident Mitch Hanlon has attended and presented at the organization’s annual conferences.
A union musician of Local 2 in Los Angeles, Mr. Hanlon has taught piano and voice to students who currently appear on Broadway and in national tours. He also founded the Pianist Program at the Orange County School of the Arts and the Mitch Hanlon Singers, a professional group whose members have sung on international tours and on Grammy-nominated albums.
Outside of his musical career, Mr. Hanlon is an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Fullerton. As grant-writing chair of the Grants committee, he has secured funding for projects focused on youth literacy and support for homeless veterans.
